Being a Student

Grading and Progress Reports

All current students receive a written progress report. For clock hour students:  every month, by the 15th day of the following month.  For the credit hour students: a mid term report and an interim progress report for the semeter/term. Progress reports show their attendance and grade point average and expected completion date. The following grading system is used to evaluate academic progress on written and practical tests and practical projects on clients and/or models for all programs. A grade point average of 80% or higher must be maintained for satisfactory academic progress.

  • 93% to 100% A (Excellent)
  • 87% to 92% B ( Good)
  • 86% to 80% C (Satisfactory)
  • 0% to 79% F (Fair)

Student records are available for student review during business hours by appointment.

Your Teachers

Cheeks International Academy  faculty has been carefully selected for their experience, dedication and concern for the students. Quality education is always our first priority. All faculty members are licensed or credentialed by the appropriate state agencies. They attend classes and seminars throughout the year to keep current with the new technologies and educational trends.


Graduating

Upon successful completion of following program requirements, a diploma in the arts and science of your chosen field will be awarded:

  • Satisfactory completion of program requirements.
  • Passing all written and practical examinations with a minimum of 80% grade point
  • Completion of all required practical project sheets.
  • Full payment of all school charges
  • Practitioner Licensing

All beauty professionals must be licensed in the state they practice their trade. State Board of Cosmetology in Colorado and also in Wyoming is the licensing authority and conducts the license testing. Instructors in Colorado receive their teaching credentials from the Division of Private Occupational Schools.  Instructors in Wyoming must be licensed by the State Board of Cosmetology.
